Apparel and Softgoods Designer


Applicants must be based in USA & willing to work out of our Orem Office.

Responsibilities + Key Requirements

 We are searching for a mid-weight Product Designer who is genuinely passionate about actualizing objects of consumer-informed product design. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in creating products for our network of clients as well as our private label products. You possess the ability to manage a wide range of projects while maintaining supply-chain, apparel manufacturing, and being able to execute a portfolio of diverse projects across multiple factories.

Effective project management skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential as you will be managing multiple complex projects simultaneously. Collaborating closely with our global network of manufacturers, you will leverage your understanding of manufacturing processes to negotiate favorable and cost-effective pricing. In this role, you will also be responsible for maintaining and organizing an effective workflow through documenting all steps of the process with both internal and external collaborators.

  • Work with the Creative Director to conceptualize new product ideas, focusing on material selection and sourcing.
  • Conduct competitive product research to inform product development.
  • Effectively communicate detailed product and packaging specifications, utilizing physical or digital mockups from the Product Design team.
  • Ability to message manufacturers at night. In office hours will be determined by time spent communicating at night.
  • Develop cost-effective retail merchandising solutions that align with the needs of a particular client.
  • Ability to balance cost of goods across a wide variety of projects.
  • Communicate directly with factories during product development stages, as needed.
  • Research and comprehend legal requirements for products, ensuring compliance from all parties during sourcing, sampling, and production stages.
  • Conduct meticulous reviews of pre-production and production samples, ensuring they meet mass production specifications.
  • Strong Illustrator and Photoshop Skills. 3D apparel modeling is a plus.
  • Experience working with Google Suite, Slack, and Notion as it relates to communication across the broader team
  • Bonus: 3D design/rendering experience (Rhino, SolidWorks, Blender, Keyshot, etc)

Qualifications



  • College degree in Product Design, Product Development, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a product development role.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to break down a product and explain how it is made.
  • Proficiency in understanding  and communicating detailed product specifications and digital mockups.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to travel as needed for trade shows, store audits, and retail checks.
  • Experience with Notion, Dropbox, Adobe Suite, and Slack are preferred but not required.
